Biden’s stimulus package sees the light at the end of the tunnel

President Biden’s $1.9 billion stimulus package received Senate approval over the weekend. The bill squeezed through only after a series of last-minute amendments, some of which were insisted on by members of the Democratic Party’s own caucus.

Here’s what made it into the final draft:

  • Individual stimulus cheques of $1,400.
  • Weekly boost in unemployment payments.
  • $350 billion in aid to states and local governments.
  • $20 billion in low-income housing assistance.
  • $130 billion in education funding.
