Zachary Fillingham, BA MA Managing Editor
Zachary holds a BA in International Relations from York University and an MA in Chinese Studies from the University of London (SOAS), where he wrote his thesis on Chinese political security considerations in Central Asia. A fluent Mandarin speaker, Zachary was the recipient of a Taiwan Ministry of Education Huayu Scholarship and spent years working and studying in Taipei. He has worked extensively as a writer, editor and translator, and has consulted for some of the world’s largest finance firms. Zachary’s primary areas of expertise are East Asian politics, Chinese nationalism, and food security.
Nicholas dePencier Wright, BA JD MBA LLM (TAX)
Nick is a Toronto business lawyer licensed to practice law in Ontario, Canada. He has extensive experience in corporate finance, transactions and governance. The former leader of the Green Party of Nova Scotia, Nick was actively involved in public affairs and government relations for over a decade and regularly appeared in the Canadian media speaking on public policy issues. Nick holds an Honours BA in Political Philosophy from the University of King’s College, Halifax, Law and MBA degrees from Dalhousie University, a masters in tax law from Osgoode Hall Law School and a certificate in public relations from the University of Toronto.
Alex Holstein, BA MSc.
Alex Holstein holds a BA from the University of Southern California and an MSc. in Russian and Post-Soviet Studies from the London School of Economics, where he wrote his thesis on the Soviet KGB. Through years of extensive research and worldwide experience, Alex has developed a strong grasp of foreign affairs, maintaining a particular interest in espionage, terrorism, special operations, border security and international relations. A former Executive Director of the Republican Party of San Diego County, he has managed communications and stakeholder engagement for major statewide and national political and issue advocacy campaigns in both California and Washington D.C. He has been a contributing expert for International Security and Intelligence issues at the SUN News Network and CP24 in Canada.
Benjamin E. Syme Van Ameringen, BA MA
Benjamin previously worked at one of the world’s largest international legal and political risk management consulting firms. He also has worked with the United Nations in Bangladesh and various consulting firms in Taiwan. Benjamin has significant experience managing anti-corruption, due diligence and compliance projects for Fortune 500 companies, mining firms, institutional investment banks and governments. He holds a Global Master’s Degree (MA) in International Relations with a focus on international law and political risk from Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland, an honours BA in Political Science from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada and a certification in International Crisis and Risk Management from the Swedish National Defence College.
Theadora Mills, BA MA
Theadora is a strategic communications and digital marketing specialist with experience managing corporate communications for large international NGOs, publications and private sector organizations. She has worked with clients to provide dynamic and creative communications solutions, including branding and marketing materials, social media communications, media relations, and editorial support. She holds her MA in Communication and Culture from York University and Honours BA in Communications and Business from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Jeremy is a business development manager with experience working in communications, sales and linguistics in Canada and Latin America. He graduated in business & marketing and has completed a certificate in renewable energy resources and risk management. Jeremy worked as an Immigration Liaison Officer for a major sovereign European nation, where he processed and performed background checks on thousands of visa applicants. Jeremy’s particular interest with Latin American foreign affairs derives from living in Colombia where he was a linguistic consultant at the corporate level. Later on, he worked in business development for an energy-consulting firm that specialized in renewable resources and risk analysis. Jeremy is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
