Yemen Civil War: Marib City Falls to the Houthis

Recent events on the ground herald a new chapter in the Yemen civil war.

Fighting between the Iran-backed Houthis and the Saudi-backed government of President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi has intensified sharply in Marib province, one of the last remaining strongholds for the Hadi government. With reports indicating that the Houthis have gained control of most of Marib City, the Kingdom’s favored proxy appears to be at risk of dropping out of the contest to control Yemen.
