Searchers are celebrating a victory in their race against time to recover two black box recorders before they stop emitting a signal.

The cockpit voice recorder was recovered by an underwater robot on Thursday. The recorder is heavily damaged, but the recovered part of it includes the memory unit, which should hold some clues as to the fate of the flight.

The second black box recorder has also been recovered. Unfortunately it is also heavily damaged. Both are now being analyzed in Egypt, and more details on the demise of EgyptAir MS804 should emerge over the weekend.
