China is currently facing its largest outbreak of Delta strain yet, and though the numbers still pale in comparison to outbreaks elsewhere, they represent a public health policy challenge – and severe economic drag – in a country that continues to abide by a ‘zero-COVID’ strategy.

93 new cases were reported on Wednesday, bringing the total of this current outbreak to over 600. Cases have now been detected in 19 provinces.
