Nils Peterson

Nils Peterson is a Marshall Scholar studying for an MA in Taiwan Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies and holds a BA in History and Chinese from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He previously led the China Team at the Institute for the Study of War as a War Studies Fellow. He is also the Rising Expert for the Indo-Pacific at Young Professionals for Foreign Policy.

Forlorn Future: Third Parties in Taiwanese Presidential Politics

A viable and institutionally mature third party candidate in presidential elections would only strengthen Taiwan’s democracy, but the recent history of the TPP and PFP suggests that the KMT-DPP presidential binary won’t be easily disrupted.
