Geo Dzakwan Arshali is Undergraduate Student in International Affais Management at School of International Studies, Universiti Utara Malaysia, and Research Intern (Regional Security Architecture Programme) with Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (IDSS) at S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS). He is concurrently an Emerging Leaders Fellow at FACTS Asia and a Senior Analyst & Program Manager at World Order Lab. His research interests focus on Southeast Asia’s domestic politics and security affairs.

Indonesia and North Korea are rebuilding a modest rapport. Whether the two nations’ engagement expands to become a significant factor in regional security depends on Indonesia; but it wouldn’t be the first time that Jakarta surprised on the foreign policy front.
