It provides\u00a0analysis and short-term forecasting on key military, political, and economic events around the globe.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Peruvians Head to the Polls to Pick a President<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Peruvians will head to the polls on June 4<sup>th<\/sup> in a second round of voting to select the country\u2019s next president.<\/p>\n<p>Keiko Fujimori, daughter of disgraced former president Alberto Fujimori, took the first round with around 40% of the vote. In second place was former World Bank economist Pedro Kuczynski with around 22%.<\/p>\n<p>There were doubts in the immediate aftermath of the first round as to whether Keiko Fujimori would be able to maintain her momentum in a second round where the field would presumably rally around her opponent. Keiko\u2019s father remains an extremely divisive figure in Peru, with his 10-year rule from 1990-2000 alternatively credited for the country\u2019s economic revival or democratic downfall, depending on who you ask.
