As has been the case with numerous sovereign nations in the mid-east, the West stepped in, fomented an ousting of the leadership, orchestrated the insertion of new west-friendly leadership and left the people of the nation in disarray. In the meantime, the West has plenty of public excuses to justify their attacks on the Russian economy. Hurray for the West!

The Balkans are a byword for instability and have been for centuries. Let them get on with it. I estimate that every generation there is a change of allegiance or political system or border alignment. The place is run by war-lords who are way outside the UN remit. Getting involved is futile, this place is as tribal as Afghanistan.
