The ‘infamous string of pearls’ is a propaganda created by Indians. China is doing what India tries to do in every country. It is their right.

Russia is the biggest exporter of weapons to India.. what should we make of that? Bangladesh can do whatever they want to do.

Unfortunately many int he Indian politics likes to boost that they ‘created Bangladesh’. while it may be true, that doesnt mean they can dictate bengalis what to do. West Pakistan tried to do it and u can see the result

Men cant keep beards…..search on net if any doubt..and then it has the guts to seek friendship with Muslim country.??? See how evil is communist china…. .so evil China using Bangladesh against India in its own interest not in interest of Bangladesh … Hope bangladesh understands this…this is what britishers did when they ruled india…use one king against another…Bangladesh not understanding this…..China has close relations with pakistan….Pakistan state committed genocide in 1971 in Bangladesh…but china close friends with pakistan and now using Bangladesh also for its expansionist designs…in China no freedom of religion… No democracy…..one child policy…. communists or maoists ruling…what has Bangladesh common with china??? China only using Bangladesh for its evil

Of all the things the Chinese are up to in Bangladesh, which are detrimental to Indian interests and which are being blatantly carried on by the Chinese in their pursuit of the, by now infamous, “string of pearls” doctrine. And by all accounts it is an accurate list. But, didn’t the Indian have first crack at Bangladesh? In fact, didn’t the Indians have first crack at all of south Asia? While the Chinese giant was sleeping in the 60’s, 70’s and well into the 80’s and the 90’s, successive Indian governments, which had the field to themselves and were able to write their own rules for the game, kept fumbling their south Asian and in fact, global foreign policy and hence drove their neighbors, one by one into the waiting arms of the Chinese. I fail to the see the humor, when in my mind’s eye I imagine some foreign policy mandarin in Beijing laughing at each Indian misstep while patiently awaiting the day when Chinese power was immense enough that they could pretty well crap where they pleased in India’s backyard.

Who will be the guarantor of security for Bangladesh? Does this give the Americans the cherished role of a balancer in the Bay?

The Hans form 92 % of China’s population and have a 5000 history behind them. Such people cannot be isolated for long by the machinations of the west. . Bangladesh is smart to hitch its wagon with the shinning star.
As for India its a large country with myriad of problems of which communal-ism, fanaticism is now on the rise with Modi and his cohorts along with its corrupt crony capitalism and lack of transparency and law. Mobobocracy towards her own minorities be they women, adivasis, Christians, Buddhist, Sikhs and Muslims are practiced quite regularly by the upper caste Hindus and Brahmins. That is India’s Achilles heal and this will not change inspite of a great constitution and regular election’s.
For Bangladesh India is a neighbor with certain limited advantages. This is the reality and Bangladesh will do what is in her interest whether the author, Kolkata and New Delhi likes it or not. India needs to wake up and Modi and his cohorts need to move on. Epar Bangla and Opar Bangla has their limitations and Bangladesh and its citizens knows it and has moved on. Bangladesh has come of age and Opar Bangla need to realize those are not “bangals or bongs” who live east of the Ganges.

You don’t suppose the writer has a political ax to grind do you? Just ensure that you don’t sacrifice your country’s natural health for the sake of profit or you could wind up like Pennsylvania in the States or the Tar Sands in Alberta. Thanks.

China has lot to offer. What you can offer except jealousy and spitting venom? You are not mature enough for writing about international politics.
